Bound Contemporary Dance

An evening length piece featuring San Diego based Jillian Chu and Yvonne Hernandez, with Chicago based performer Jennifer Meek.

This work is the result of approaching choreography collaboration over distance. Exchanging information via video, letter writing, email communication, and phone conversations has allowed the artists to explore space and place in ways that transcend the classic dance-making process. Rich personal narratives and those from books are shared between the artists and help inform the work, thus creating a community of artists unbound by geography.
